There is beauty

in the movement of air

I'm Selene and Art of Aero is a collection of my work as an innovation designer and an engineer focused on sustainable systems and utilizing non-conventional design language tools.

Air can be a language of design

The seemingly chaotic movement of fluids around us can create unimaginable patterns that offer new and different combinations of particle arrangements every time. Fluids create order and disorder at the same time, much like the world we live in today. I want to discover if and how fluids and particularly air can be used as a sculpting tool for design, both literally and conceptually.

DE51GNEƐR

Currently, designers and engineers are frequently at the core of innovation and execution. While their overall percentage compared to the entire workforce is not high, the value they create that gets translated into a product is significantly impactful. There is almost a dichotomy when we look into the current definitions of roles of designers and engineers: one being typically creative and original, the other being highly analytical and problem-solving oriented. While engineering is thought to be more prone to automation, creative and generative skills exhibited by AI algorithms today show that the current definitions of these jobs are equally at risk of becoming obsolete. In this scenario, a role combining the features of an engineer and designer would be of utmost importance. I created the concept of a new future combination role called a “DE51GNEƐR” who acts more like an orchestra conductor, curating and carefully managing the various tools at their disposal in harmony. I am the first prototype of the DE51GNEƐR concept.
