My name is Selene and I am an Aerodynamics Engineer from Ankara, Turkey. I studied Aerospace Engineering at UCLA and started working at an electric vehicle manufacturer, Canoo, in 2018. While aerodynamics might seem very math-heavy, I believe that it is the branch that is closest to being a form of art. There are countless ways of optimizing a surface geometry and one needs to have creativity as well an aesthetic taste to match the design language of the concept. I also believe that there might be a link between the math behind curves and aesthetic design, like in the case of the Jaguar E-type. There is a lot to discover and improve in this field and I feel excited every single day to be a part of it. My ultimate aim is to leverage my aerodynamics knowledge to significantly improve unchecked drag numbers that might have a considerable impact on global emissions. Interaction with air and water is essential to global supply chains and we are still using outdated drag reduction techniques to gain minimal improvement.
Here, I am offering a “toolkit portfolio” that shows examples of what I value the most in my design thinking process.
