Tool #1 : Dreaming
I use dreaming as a tool, in order to understand what I want, to define a problem and imagine ways of solving it. It serves as the first step in my process of starting a project. If there are obstacles, I remind myself of the first time I dreamt about the project, in an attempt to eliminate the noise and focus on my long term plan.
The following represents a visual timeline explaining how I created an aerodynamics team at my university's student car racing club. While I was searching for beauty through engineered surfaces, I realized that design did not only apply to objects, it applied to everything that is a part of “a dream” that is waiting to be realized: team building, problem solving, manufacturing and engineering can all benefit from design thinking.
